Neighbourhood Watch Alert – Doorstep Scam WarningPolice are warning residents in the Rolleston and Tutbury to be cautious following reports of cold callers offering roof repairs. In a few cases, males have approached homes claiming to have spotted a loose tile and offering to fix it for a small fee. Once on the roof, they have allegedly removed additional tiles creating further damage and then demanding more money for “urgent repairs.” Please remember: - Never agree to work from anyone who calls unexpectedly at your door.
- Do not let cold callers onto your property or roof.
- If in doubt, keep your door closed and report the incident.
- Use trusted tradespeople — ideally those recommended by friends, family, or approved trader schemes.
- Ask for identification and take time to verify any company before agreeing to work.
- If you feel pressured, say no and close the door. Genuine traders will understand.
- Look out for vulnerable neighbours and report any suspicious activity immediately.
